Description
Kingston Skatepark is a large sized skatepark, that’s built for every person who loves skating. It’s contained in a fence with resembles the ones from tennis course. It seems to favor BMX more than skateboarders, and the obstacles includes: ramps, spine, pump bumps, kicker to kicker haps and a bowled out corner. There is a separate street area with stairs, rails, and ledges. The parks different obstacles gives play with for every skater style. This park is mostly for the more experienced skater and riders that know what they are doing. But if you are a beginner, then you would still find some fun in this park.
The skatepark was designed and constructed by Wheelscape and was completed in April 2011. It has one continuous loop integrating a large bowl and some multi-platform plaza-style street area. The concrete park is divided into 3 sections with a smooth surface. This sets demands for both creativity and execution.
1. The bowl sections have a flat bottomed 5-foot bowl with bowled end and a 1-foot extension that goes over to a quarter that can also be used as a mini vert. There are spine transfers and mellow rolls into a quarter pipe as well.
2. The street area features two lanes, 1 with a 4-stairset lined with 2 rails and a small hubba. It has a small ledge which leads to the second lane, and then down into the bowl area. There is a really long, double kinked hubba which you probably gonna love.
3. The final L-shaped section connects the other side of the bowl back to the start of the street section and has a jump box and turf gap with a ledge. These goes into the corner and is made of 2 quarter pipes connected with a hip that gives flow into riding the bank with pole jam on top.
Kingston Skatepark has a lot to offer to all skaters and riders, with good flow and challenges. But the obstacles stands close related together and at “rush-hours” it can be quite crowded, so if you’re looking for a chill session, then visit on a weekday in the daytime.
You are required to have an ‘Access Pass’ to be able to use this facility and fill out a consent form or it should be signed by your parents if you’re under 16. The park is unlike any other outdoor park pay (£5). See website for more details or contact parks@richmond.gov.uk
Directions: Kingston Skatepark is located in the east corner of King’s Field Park, so it basically becomes Hampton Wick.
